Praying for Victory Through Fasting

I have been praying for specific victories in my daughters’ lives. I have declared scriptures over the evil forces that seek to steal from them, standing on the promises of God’s Word:

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10, NIV).

I have stood in faith without wavering, holding strong to the expectation that answers are on their way. The Bible reminds us:

"But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind." (James 1:6, NIV).

A simple wooden spoon and empty bowls beside a well-worn Bible symbolize the spiritual discipline of fasting, emphasizing the power of prayer and sacrifice in seeking victory through faith.

Yet, I kept watching evil sneak in, hindering progress in different areas. This led me to question my Daddy God about the hindrances to answered prayer. I didn’t like the answer, but it was a necessary revelation. He reminded me of when the disciples questioned Jesus about why they were unable to cast out demons from an individual. Jesus explained to them that some demons, or evil forces, require us to gain strength and authority through prayer and fasting:

"However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting." (Matthew 17:21, NKJV).

Since I enjoy eating, this answer was difficult to accept. But I had to ask myself a hard question: Is the temporary pleasure of food worth sacrificing a lifetime of victory over evil? Fasting is a small price to pay when I know that it unlocks answers and releases spiritual power. Not to mention, fasting also brings numerous health benefits to our physical bodies.

Fasting aligns us with God's will and sharpens our spiritual focus. It demonstrates our dependence on Him and creates space for His power to move in our lives. Jesus Himself fasted for forty days in the wilderness before beginning His ministry:

"Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry." (Matthew 4:1-2, NIV).

As we fast and pray, we can rest assured that breakthroughs are on the horizon. The Apostle Paul encourages us not to give up:

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Galatians 6:9, NIV).

Let us embrace fasting as a powerful tool in our spiritual arsenal. With unwavering faith and commitment, we will witness God’s promises come to pass in our lives and the lives of our loved ones.

Let us embrace this calling, knowing that through Christ, we have been set free to live in victory. Speak boldly, believe confidently, and watch as God’s promises unfold in every area of your life.

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us." (Ephesians 3:20, NIV).
