Everyone Has the Innate Desire for the Supernatural
We are born with a natural curiosity for the miraculous and the spiritual. This curiosity must be guided through Biblical knowledge and wisdom; otherwise, we risk falling into the traps of the occult—such as ouija boards, tarot cards, fortune-tellers, demonic chants, and other dark practices.
"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." (Hosea 4:6, KJV)
When evil spirits deceive people into granting them access to manifest, it becomes difficult to break free from their influence. The only power we have to overcome these forces is through Jesus Christ. By accepting Him as our Lord and Savior, we receive the authority to cast out demons and break free from spiritual bondage:

"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19, KJV)
Ephesians 6:12 (KJV) instructs us to recognize and take authority over the different levels or hierarchies of spiritual wickedness:
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Here’s a breakdown of these levels:
1. Principalities
Definition: High-ranking demonic beings with authority over regions, territories, or nations. They influence governments, cultures, and large groups of people.
Example: In Daniel 10:13 (KJV), the “prince of the kingdom of Persia” resisted an angelic messenger, illustrating the territorial nature of principalities.
Action: We must diligently pray for our leaders and actively participate in electing those who follow Biblical principles:
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." (1 Timothy 2:1-2, KJV)
2. Powers
Definition: Spirits that exert influence over people and situations, opposing God's will by manipulating circumstances and authorities.
Example: These forces suppress the gospel, stir up oppression, and fuel persecution.
Action: Pray against evil working through people to block God’s promises in our lives. The devil uses jealousy and insecurities in others to harm God’s children:
"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn." (Isaiah 54:17, KJV)
3. Rulers of the Darkness of This World
Definition: Spirits that thrive in moral and spiritual darkness, promoting ignorance, deception, and moral corruption.
Example: They influence societal norms, media, and cultural movements that oppose God’s truth.
Action: Gain knowledge for ourselves; don’t simply rely on others' teachings. Be diligent to study the Word and remain discerning:
"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15, KJV)
We should also evaluate our spiritual leaders: “Are Biblical truths evident in their lives? Are they living in victory, or struggling like the world does and saying, ‘This is just life?’”
4. Spiritual Wickedness in High Places
Definition: The most malicious and evil forces operating in the heavenly realms, deeply entrenched in spiritual rebellion against God.
Example: They spread religious deception, false doctrines, and distort God’s Word.
Action: Support efforts to combat horrific atrocities such as human trafficking and the exploitation of children through prayer, volunteering, and financing organizations that work for justice:
"Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy." (Psalm 82:3, KJV)
We must not ignore these evils simply because they do not directly affect us. As followers of Christ, we are called to be His hands and feet on earth.
How to Stand Against These Forces:
Paul reminds believers to put on the full armor of God to stand against these levels of spiritual wickedness:
"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." (Ephesians 6:11, NKJV)
This includes:
The Belt of Truth (Ephesians 6:14)
The Breastplate of Righteousness (Ephesians 6:14)
The Shield of Faith (Ephesians 6:16)
The Helmet of Salvation (Ephesians 6:17)
The Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17)
Praying always in the Spirit (Ephesians 6:18)
