Eliminate the Spirit of Fear

It is a sign with a cartoon man walking in the direction of an street sign with an arrow. It is drawn on a chalkboard with the word FEAR written vertically, and the acronym F for Face, E for Everything, A for And, and R for Rise.

The spirit of fear attacks us all, but the Bible warns us of its origin

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (NKJV)

Since the war is always between 'Good' (God) and 'evil' (the devil), and since this spirit did not come from our Heavenly Father, we know it is a weapon from evil to get us to dwell on the possible damaging effects of the problem. Fear paralyzes and distorts our perception of what awaits. This is a tactic used by evil to divert us from faith and trust in God's plan.

We must tackle the fearful thoughts, push them out, and fill our heads with God’s promises. Say these promises aloud until your faith grows and suffocates the fear. We accept God’s provision of a sound mind.

Here are more scriptures regarding “fear”.

  1. Isaiah 41:10 (NIV): "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

  2. Psalm 34:4 (NIV): "I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears."

  3. Joshua 1:9 (NIV): "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

  4. 1 John 4:18 (NIV): "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."

  5. Psalm 23:4 (NIV): "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

  6. Ephesians 6:11-12 (NIV): "Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

  7. James 4:7 (NIV): "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

  8. 1 Peter 5:8-9 (NIV): "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings."

  9. John 10:10 (NIV): "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

  10. Romans 8:15 (NIV): "The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, 'Abba, Father.'"

These passages reinforce the idea that fear is not from God but a weapon of evil, meant to distract and destabilize us. By relying on God's strength and armor, we can resist these negative forces and stand firm in our faith -  encouraging us to trust in His love and strength.
