Finding Strength in Faith: Overcoming Hurt and Hardship

July 15, 2024

When we experience hurt, lack, or sickness and share our experiences with family members or friends, we may encounter four possible reactions:

  1. Indifference: They may not care or want to be bothered with our situation because they have their own problems to deal with.

  2. Sympathy: They may give lots of sympathy and side with us, reinforcing resentment and hopelessness. They might even help us plot revenge, but this offers no real help.

3. Dismissal: They may simply say, "Get over it." When we're hurting deeply, it is impossible to "just get over it," making

this a heartless reaction.

None of these reactions will help us overcome.

4. Prayer of Agreement: If you are fortunate to have friends or families that believe with you, strength will come.

Be encouraged; with the right attitude and direction, we can win. In every situation, it is important to seek support and guidance from those who can provide a positive, biblical, uplifting perspective, especially when facing difficult circumstances. Surrounding ourselves with individuals who share our faith and beliefs can be comforting and empowering. Matthew 18:20 states, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." Finding solace in scripture and relying on the promises and teachings found in the Bible can provide strength and clarity during challenging times. Believing in those promises and speaking them aloud can help reinforce our faith and create a sense of peace and hope.

If we are alone with no one to agree in prayer with us, we must connect with God through prayer and reflection, which can be a powerful way to find guidance and healing. Alone time with our Heavenly Father can offer a sense of comfort and renewal, allowing us to release our burdens and trust in His plan for us.

Let us close our eyes and picture ourselves sitting on "Daddy God's" lap, discussing our problems just like a son or daughter would with a loving earthly father. What would this conversation be? Let us give ourselves time to fully experience this. Then, we can record that conversation in our journal. List the things we imagined we would ask Him, then relate His responses. Let us analyze these insights for any possible guidance.

Be sure to update our journal as answers to prayers come. Then, we can tell someone about our victory according to scriptures.
