Turn Around Before It’s Too Late

A Devotional on Life’s Direction, God’s Guidance, and Living as a Light
Key Verse:
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.” Proverbs 13:12( KJV)
Devotional Thought:
Yesterday, I was traveling down the main street through town on my way to the main highway. Suddenly, traffic slowed to a snail’s pace. After just two blocks, I realized we weren’t going anywhere quickly. So, I turned around to take an alternate route—and when I did, I saw the traffic had backed up even more.
Honestly, I just wanted to jump out of my car, wave my hands, and shout, “Turn around! There’s a faster, safer way!”
As I whispered a prayer about the slowdown, the Lord gave me a vision: I saw people going about their daily routines, following a path that society says leads to success. But spiritually, I could see where that path led—disappointment, disillusionment, and worst of all, eternity without Jesus.
“Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
— Matthew 7:13–14 (NIV)
That image burdened my heart. I asked God, “How do we reach people with the Good News of Jesus—His love, companionship, and promises—when Christians are so often portrayed as judgmental, greedy, or out of touch?”
But the truth is: we are called to shine brightly, to reflect the joy, peace, and abundance found in Christ. Yes, we go through struggles. Yes, we face trials. But in the midst of it, we have a Savior who walks with us and gives us a life more abundant than we could imagine.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
— John 10:10 (ESV)
