Turn Around Before It’s Too Late

A bright yellow road sign against a sunny sky reads, "It's never too late to do the right thing," symbolizing the hope and urgency of making a righteous turn in life.

A Devotional on Life’s Direction, God’s Guidance, and Living as a Light

Key Verse:

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.” Proverbs 13:12( KJV)

Devotional Thought:
Yesterday, I was traveling down the main street through town on my way to the main highway. Suddenly, traffic slowed to a snail’s pace. After just two blocks, I realized we weren’t going anywhere quickly. So, I turned around to take an alternate route—and when I did, I saw the traffic had backed up even more.

Honestly, I just wanted to jump out of my car, wave my hands, and shout, “Turn around! There’s a faster, safer way!”

As I whispered a prayer about the slowdown, the Lord gave me a vision: I saw people going about their daily routines, following a path that society says leads to success. But spiritually, I could see where that path led—disappointment, disillusionment, and worst of all, eternity without Jesus.

“Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Matthew 7:13–14 (NIV)

That image burdened my heart. I asked God, “How do we reach people with the Good News of Jesus—His love, companionship, and promises—when Christians are so often portrayed as judgmental, greedy, or out of touch?”

But the truth is: we are called to shine brightly, to reflect the joy, peace, and abundance found in Christ. Yes, we go through struggles. Yes, we face trials. But in the midst of it, we have a Savior who walks with us and gives us a life more abundant than we could imagine.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
John 10:10 (ESV)

So, we keep living, loving, and sharing. Even when people don’t want to hear it, we continue to be living billboards of grace, truth, and hope.

“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 (ESV)

And remember—someone can’t believe unless they’ve heard, and they can’t hear unless someone tells them.

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
Romans 10:14 (NIV)

A Prayer for Today:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for showing us the better way. Help us to be bold enough to lovingly warn others when we see destruction ahead. Show us in whom we should invest our time versus the “blood suckers” who just want an easy way out of their troubles without being teachable for positive change. Fill us with compassion and wisdom as we share Your truth in a world full of distractions and deception. May our lives be a shining light—so joyful, so full of peace, so anchored in You—that others are drawn to the hope we have in Christ. Use us to be Your messengers. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
