The Significance of the “Helmet of Salvation”
The "Helmet of Salvation" is part of the Armor of God described in the Bible, in Ephesians 6:17. It reminds us to protect our minds with the assurance of salvation. To start, we need to be "saved." This means believing in our hearts that Jesus is the Son of God, who came to Earth to pay the price for our sins. We confess with our mouths that we accept Jesus' sacrifice and declare that He is our Lord. This is just the beginning. Next, we get to know God as our Heavenly Father, which takes time. We learn about Him through the Bible, prayer, and understanding what pleases Him. Like toddlers learning to walk, new Christians will stumble as they grow in their faith. But with practice, we get stronger in our spiritual journey.
Our journey as God’s children continues throughout life, and it’s important to understand that we are now entitled to many blessings and promises given to those who love God. Notice the word "entitled"—these blessings aren’t earned; they are our inheritance through Jesus in the New Testament. Don’t let anyone diminish these promises or claim that miracles aren’t for today. Hebrews 13:8 (KJV) assures us, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” If the Bible promises healing, then healing is ours. If it promises that our needs will be met, then they must be met. Don’t settle for less just because others do. We must be determined that when we reach Heaven, God will proudly tell us that we used every provision Jesus intended for us through His death and resurrection. The deed to the supernatural is ours, so we must guard what goes into our minds after receiving salvation.
By putting on this helmet, we remind ourselves that our salvation through Jesus Christ keeps us safe from doubt, fear, and spiritual attacks. It helps us stay focused on God's truth and guards our thoughts against negativity and lies.
