When we wake up in the morning and declare, “This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24, KJV), we are setting the tone for our day. By making this declaration, we establish that everything the Holy Spirit has assigned for us will be accomplished. At the end of the day, our Heavenly Father assures us that we have done well in His sight. No weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17, KJV), and we will advance the Kingdom of God. We will rest peacefully, dreaming of the blessings that are flooding our way.
Developing good habits is essential because we live out our faith daily. As Jesus stated, “According to your faith be it unto you” (Matthew 9:29, KJV). He commended the centurion, saying he had great faith, and at that very moment, his servant was healed (Matthew 8:10, 13, KJV). Likewise, when the woman with the issue of blood touched Jesus' garment, He told her, “Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole” (Luke 8:48, KJV). Our faith activates God’s power in our lives.
To start our day right, we must give ourselves enough time to accomplish what is needed, avoiding confusion and frustration. Do not cut your time short and rush through your morning, as this often leads to irritation. The enemy thrives on negativity. Scripture warns us, “Neither give place to the devil” (Ephesians 4:27, KJV), meaning we should not allow any opportunity for sin through our actions or words.
Take time to get dressed and find a quiet, comfortable place to spend with the Lord. How we structure this time is personal, but Scripture instructs us, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise” (Psalm 100:4, KJV). Begin with gratitude, then spend time studying the Word. This could mean taking two to five verses, reading commentaries, and recording what the Holy Spirit reveals to you. When presenting your petitions, use Scripture as your foundation, for the Bible assures us, “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us” (1 John 5:14, KJV).
Now, equipped with God's presence and wisdom, we are prepared to succeed in our daily activities, working “as unto the Lord” (Colossians 3:23, KJV).
