Renewing Our Minds – Our Responsibility to Fill Our Minds with God’s Promises

Renewing our minds is not a passive process—it is our responsibility. God has given us His Word to transform our thinking, so that we walk in full, unwavering faith. When we fill our hearts and minds with His promises, we replace fear, doubt, and negativity with faith, hope, and victory. This isn’t an easy process to get to that unwavering peace state. It takes conscientious effort each day to create the habit of keeping our minds on God’s promises and purposes for our lives and to refuse to be obsessed with the lies of the devil.

We must renew our minds daily. Romans 12:2 (NIV)“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will

be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Transformation of our minds is a deliberate process as the world tries to flood us with satanic propaganda. When our minds are renewed, we have the ability to discern God’s will has delivered us out of every affliction.

We purposely fill  our minds with the truth knowing that the devil is trying to divert our attention from God’s plan to his evil, foiled plans. Philippians 4:8 (ESV)“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” We must filter our thoughts—only allowing what aligns with God’s truth to dwell in our minds. Thoughts of doubt, fear, and negativity must be replaced with faith, purity, and praise.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NKJV)“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” The battle for faith is fought in the mind. We must intentionally capture negative, ungodly thoughts and replace them with God’s truth. Any thought that contradicts God’s promises must be rejected.

We can’t accomplish this simply on our own. It takes the power of God's Word in Mind Renewal. Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” God’s Word is not just information; it is alive and active in transforming our minds.
