Where Does This Bible Roadmap Lead Us?
As we reflect on our daily actions, it's important to ask ourselves: where does this Bible roadmap lead us? The Bible gives us guidance in every area of our lives, from the simplest tasks to our relationships with others. Here are a few key verses that show us the path:
1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV reminds us, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Everything we do, no matter how small or ordinary, should be done to honor God.
Philippians 2:12 NIV encourages us to “continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” Our walk with God is a continuous journey, one that we take seriously, knowing that our faith should be worked out with reverence and respect.
John 13:35 NIV tells us, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love is the defining mark of a disciple of Christ. Without it, all our actions are meaningless, as described in the famous “love chapter,” 1 Corinthians 13 KJV. Even the greatest achievements are worthless if not done with love.
As we enter the fall season, many celebrations arise, including Halloween, which can bring controversy for Christians. While we don't want to celebrate the devil, demons, or witches, the question arises: what should we do on this day? Do we stay home, or can we engage in a way that honors God?
For my husband and me, we chose to be a light in our neighborhood. Instead of hiding away, we handed out candy with a smile, greeting families warmly. We focused on being a blessing, rather than the couple with all the lights turned off. We only celebrated with wholesome symbols—pumpkins, angels, Bible characters, and fairy tales—leaving out anything that glorifies evil.
When I taught in a Christian school, we celebrated All Saints Day by dressing up as Bible characters, bugs, or animals, avoiding anything that didn’t align with our values. We found joy in these celebrations while honoring God.
The decision to celebrate or not is up to you. But remember, whatever we do, let it be for the glory of our Heavenly Father. Let love drive our actions, and let us work out our faith with care, always seeking to please God.
In the end, it’s not about the celebration—it’s about glorifying God and loving others in all that we do.
Declarations:
I declare that everything I do, whether big or small, will be done to honor and glorify God.
I declare that my faith will guide my choices, and I will work out my salvation with reverence and respect.
I declare that love will be the driving force behind all my actions, reflecting the love of Christ to others.
I declare that I will be a light in my community, choosing to bless others and be a positive influence wherever I go.
I declare that I will avoid anything that does not align with God's Word, and I will celebrate in ways that honor Him.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for guiding us through Your Word. Help us to live each day with the intention of glorifying You in all that we do. Give us wisdom as we make decisions, and help us to love others as You have loved us. During this season, may we shine Your light and be a blessing to those around us. Protect us from anything that does not honor You, and give us the courage to stand firm in our faith. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
