When we understand who we are in Christ, we gain the authority to command the devil to flee from our lives and families. Through the power of Jesus’ Name and the truth of God's Word, we can close every door that sin, destruction, sickness, and fear try to enter. Scripture tells us, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7, NIV). We are not helpless—we are empowered. Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) reminds us, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The devil may fire attacks at our minds and homes, but “above all, …the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6:16, NKJV), is our protection. Jesus made it clear: “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19, NKJV). The only way Satan gains power in our lives is if we give it to him—through ignorance, sin, fear, or disobedience. That’s why Ephesians 4:27 (NIV) warns us, “Do not give the devil a foothold.”
We’ve been given divine authority through Christ. We resist the devil by staying submitted to God, speaking His Word aloud, and refusing to agree with fear or lies. Today, declare this truth over your life: “The devil has no authority in my life or in my family. I am submitted to God, and I resist the enemy. I walk in the authority Jesus gave me, and no weapon formed against me shall prosper.”
Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me power over all the enemy’s tactics. Help me stay submitted to Your Word and aware of my authority in Christ. I repent of any ways I’ve allowed the enemy in, and I shut every door to fear, sin, and destruction. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
