against evil. Although we know that the ultimate victory belongs to God, He has equipped us to actively participate in overcoming darkness through His power. In fact, He commands us in Matthew 10:7-8 KJV, “And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” I can’t help but ask: Why aren't we all doing these things? How many times have church authorities made excuses, saying miracles like these aren't for today? Yet, Hebrews 13:8 KJV reminds us, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” If Jesus never changes, then why aren’t we all doing what He commanded in Matthew 10?
We must partner with the Holy Spirit to accomplish what He calls us to do. We are to set people free—free from illness, free from poverty, free from any form of bondage.
1. God’s Mission for Humanity
God gave Adam and Eve dominion over the earth Genesis 1:28 KJV. They were called to govern and steward the world in harmony with His will. However, with the entrance of sin through disobedience, the world became corrupted, and evil began to spread. Yet, even in the face of sin, God never abandoned His plan for humanity. Throughout the Bible, we see God calling individuals to partner with Him in restoring righteousness—from Abraham to Moses, and ultimately through Jesus Christ, who empowered all believers to carry forth this mission.
In Romans 12:21 KJV, we are commanded not to be overcome by evil but to overcome evil with good. This is a directive for every Christian. We are not mere spectators in this battle between good and evil; we are soldiers equipped with spiritual armor (Ephesians 6:10-18) and empowered by the Holy Spirit to be God’s representatives on earth.
We are called to action; through God’s strength, the power to overcome evil does not come from our own strength. Exodus 14:14 KJV reminds us that “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” This verse shows us that our role is one of faith and trust. God provides the power; we provide the obedience. However, He works through those who are willing to fully follow Him.
When we face the evils of this world—whether personal temptations, social injustices, or global conflicts—we must remember that our ultimate weapon is God’s Spirit working within us. This is a partnership between God and us. Jesus conquered death and evil on the cross, and by His resurrection, He declared victory over sin. Now, we, as His followers, carry the authority He has given us to bring about change and transformation.
The partnership between mankind and God is evident in how we are called to both pray and act. Prayer is our communication with God, seeking His wisdom, strength, and guidance. But prayer must be coupled with action. James 2:26 tells us that “faith without works is dead.” This means that while we rely on God’s strength, we must also step out in faith, doing good wherever evil is present. Whether it’s standing up for the oppressed, helping the needy, or simply being a light in your community, our actions demonstrate God’s goodness and work to push back the darkness.
This partnership is why Jesus instructed His disciples to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). We are praying for God’s heavenly will to be manifested on earth, and we are called to act as agents of that will.
God doesn’t just call individuals to fight against evil—He calls His entire Church. As the body of Christ, we are to be a community of believers working together, each using our gifts to combat evil in various ways. 1 Corinthians 3:9 tells us that we are “God’s fellow workers.” This is a call to unity in purpose and action. When the Church united in prayer, service, and love, we become an unstoppable force against the darkness of the world.
Jesus said, “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it” Matthew 16:18 KJV. This speaks to the power of the Church to stand firm against the evil forces in the world. As we stand together in faith, God’s light shines through us, and His will is accomplished on earth.
Prayer:
Daddy God, today, we ask how we can partner with You to overcome the evil in our lives and the world around us. Whether it's through prayer, service, or speaking truth in love, trust that You will empower us to make a difference. We are actively bringing God’s goodness into dark situations, knowing that we are part of a divine mission to defeat evil with good.
Declaration:
"I declare that I am a partner with God in overcoming all evil. I will not be overcome by darkness, but I will overcome it through God’s power. I am equipped with the armor of God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to bring His light to the world."
As we continue to walk in partnership with God, remember that we are part of His divine plan to bring light to a world filled with darkness. With God on our side, victory is assured. We are to be bold, act in love, and watch how God uses us to overcome evil!
