Acts 19:13-16 tells the story of seven itinerant Jewish exorcists who observed Paul and Silas casting out demons in Jesus' name. Impressed by their success, these exorcists decided to imitate Paul and Silas, using Jesus' name to try and set people free from demon possession. The demons replied that they knew Jesus, Paul, and Silas but had no idea who the Jewish exorcists were. Then, the demons pounced on the seven exorcists and beat them up. This story demonstrates the power we have when we have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. This brings us to what seems to be an important spiritual law where Satan cannot break the rule, and God won't because He "is not a liar" – the devil being the father of lies.
God tells us that He only has good plans for us and urges us to choose life, while the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy in John 10:10 NIV.
So, let’s consider what's in this rule book. Everything we speak can either produce life or death. In uncertain situations, the devil tries to instill fear in us, prompting us to speak words of death over our circumstances. This gives him access to plague us with his plans of destruction, death, and loss.
We’re not "Blab and Grab It" people, as the term 'abracadabra' implies. Things don't just happen because we say what we want. It requires a foundation of studying the Scriptures, meditating on His promises until our faith grows, and then speaking only our Heavenly Father’s promises. No room for "What Ifs" here! Only speak our Heavenly Father’s promises in Jesus Name!
