How to Please God as His Children

Scripture Focus: Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
"And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."

Devotional:

As children of God, our greatest desire should be to please our Heavenly Father. The Bible gives us clear guidance on how we can do this, and it begins with faith. Faith is the foundation of our relationship with God, and without it, we cannot please Him. This faith isn’t just a vague belief that God exists; it's an active trust in His goodness and in the promises He has made to us.

It is a sticky note that says, "Seek First His Kingdom and His Righteousness." There is a magnifying glass and a flower in the corners of the picture.

To live in a way that pleases God, we must also pursue righteousness, seek His will, and live a life of obedience. Romans 12:1-2 teaches us that we should offer our lives as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. When we choose to live according to His ways and surrender our will to His, we reflect His character and bring Him joy.

Another key to pleasing God is love. Jesus said the greatest commandments are to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). When we walk in love, we fulfill God's law and align ourselves with His heart.

Finally, we please God when we live with a spirit of humility and gratitude, recognizing that all good things come from Him. Micah 6:8 reminds us that God desires us to "act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God." In doing so, we reflect God's character to the world and live in a way that honors Him.

Reflection Question: In what areas of your life can you deepen your faith and obedience to better please God?

Daily Declaration: I walk in faith, trusting in God's promises and seeking His will. My life is a reflection of His love, and I strive to please Him in all that I do.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your endless love and grace. Help me to walk in faith and obedience, seeking to please You in every aspect of my life. Guide me to live a life that reflects Your character, and teach me to love others as You have loved me. May my thoughts, words, and actions bring joy to Your heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
