A key scripture that reminds us of our divine origin is found in James 1:24 (TPT), which warns that we often forget who we are and the authority we carry as God’s children. However, in verse 25, we are instructed on how to live as kings and queens:
“But those who set their gaze deeply into the perfecting law of liberty are fascinated by and respond to the truth they hear and are strengthened by it—they experience God’s blessing in ALL that they do!” (James 1:25 TPT)
Let’s break this down carefully. What exactly is James, the brother of Jesus, directing us to do?
First, we are called to “gaze deeply into the perfecting law of liberty.” This means immersing ourselves in God’s promises so thoroughly that nothing can shake us from our life’s course. We are to be fully saturated in His Word, allowing His truths to shape our thoughts, actions, and destiny..
This aligns with Jesus' words in Luke 4:18-19 (TPT), where He declares:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, and He has anointed me to be hope for the poor, freedom for the brokenhearted, and new eyes for the blind, and to preach to prisoners, ‘You are set free!’ I have come to share the message of Jubilee.”
In biblical times, Jubilee was a time when all debts were canceled, and property was restored to its rightful owners (Leviticus 25:10). Spiritually, Jesus is our Jubilee—He came to restore what was lost, break the chains of bondage, and release us into the freedom of God’s promises.
This truth connects beautifully with James 1:4 (TPT):
“And then as your endurance grows even stronger, it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.”
When we saturate ourselves in God’s Word—reading, studying, and speaking His promises—wholeness manifests in every part of our lives. Think about it: when something fascinates us, we naturally respond with enthusiasm and participation. That same attitude should apply to God’s Word!
Even in earthly battles, we can confidently “count it all joy” (James 1:2) because we know that God is teaching us how to win. We are not designed to lose! When these truths saturate our thoughts, words, and actions, we embrace our identity as victorious children of God.
Let’s be so filled with God’s promises that there is no room for defeat—only faith, victory, and an unshakable confidence in who we are in Christ!
