Christians Are Told by Society to “Stay Silent About Politics”

Society often tells Christians to "shut up" about politics, but the Bible gives us a clear roadmap on how we should live—bringing glory to God, walking in truth, and living victoriously. As believers, we are not just called to personal faith but also to public responsibility.

The Bible instructs us "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people."
Proverbs 14:34, NKJV

First and foremost, we must know what the Bible says about each issue. God’s Word is not silent on matters like justice, life, family, and leadership. We must take these truths and promote God’s mandates by engaging

in our civic duty—voting with a Biblical worldview. We cannot afford to remain passive while laws are enacted that oppose the Word of God. "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."
Proverbs 29:2, KJV

As followers of Christ, we must set the standard so that all people have the opportunity to live in freedom and abundance, unhindered by government agendas that contradict God’s commands. This starts with understanding the issues and seeking what Scripture says on matters like:

  • The sanctity of lifePsalm 139:13-14 (NIV): “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb... I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

  • Gender and identityGenesis 1:27 (ESV): “So God created man in His own image… male and female He created them.”

  • Justice and authorityMicah 6:8 (NIV): “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

  • Education and truthJohn 8:32 (KJV): “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Next, we must understand where each candidate stands on these core values—this includes presidential, local, and judicial races. This may require deeper research, especially for judges who are not required to disclose their affiliations. However, the effort is worth it because Godly leadership influences godly outcomes.

We aren't here to tell you how to vote, but to encourage you to study the Word of God and measure every political decision and position through that lens. The goal is not political dominance—but spiritual obedience. If every Christian did their part by voting according to Biblical values, we would begin to see healing, righteousness, and justice flood our land. "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
Matthew 6:33, NKJV

Declaration

I declare that I will no longer stay silent about the issues that matter to God. I will stand boldly on the truth of His Word, seek wisdom in every political decision, and walk in obedience to His voice. I will not fear culture or criticism—I will live as salt and light, declaring God’s truth and voting righteously.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us Your Word as a guide for every area of our lives, including how we engage in our nation. Give us wisdom and discernment to know the truth and boldness to stand for righteousness. Raise up leaders in our cities and government who fear You and honor Your Word. Help us not to shrink back in fear or silence, but to advance Your Kingdom with our voices, our prayers, and our votes. We declare that righteousness will rise again in our land. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
