Welcome to our blog, where we help you change your mindset and start thinking positively. Today, we’re focusing on how to cast out negative thoughts and start proclaiming what you want in your life. Here are five actionable steps to help you on this journey, illustrated with personal experiences to inspire and guide you.
Step 1: Block the Negative
When faced with challenges, it’s crucial to block out negativity, whether it comes from people, thoughts, or situations. Negative thoughts can often become self-fulfilling prophecies if we allow them to take root in our minds.
Lori’s lesson in speaking things into existence: My husband was promoted to an administrative position in Oregon, which required him to move while I remained in California. This separation remained for three years, with only being together for holidays and summer vacation. Eventually, I decided to take a risk and accepted a lesser position in Oregon to be with him. Now understand, I had a secured high paying job and I didn’t have the faith for an equal or better position because of the struggle of past experiences getting the position I worked for several years. I was overqualified for my new role, but despite that I voiced concerns that if the economy worsened, there would be layoffs. And because I am a new hire my job would be the first to be cut. Just one week after starting the job, my superintendent announced layoffs and repeatedly emphasizes this threat through emails and meetings. Fear began to grow into my thoughts and words. I finally did lose my job. By focusing on these negative thoughts and speaking them to existence, fear ultimately prevailed, in that situation. I believe with all my heart that there would have been a different outcome if my words and thoughts had been according to God’s promises. I should not make the move until I had the faith that I would prosper in Oregon. I had a faith problem and spoke my unbelief. There are definite actions to take when fearful thoughts start plaguing you.
