Speak Your Vision into Victory: Casting Out Negative Thoughts and Embracing Positive Change

Welcome to our blog, where we help you change your mindset and start thinking positively. Today, we’re focusing on how to cast out negative thoughts and start proclaiming what you want in your life. Here are five actionable steps to help you on this journey, illustrated with personal experiences to inspire and guide you.

Step 1: Block the Negative

When faced with challenges, it’s crucial to block out negativity, whether it comes from people, thoughts, or situations. Negative thoughts can often become self-fulfilling prophecies if we allow them to take root in our minds.

Lori’s lesson in speaking things into existence: My husband was promoted to an administrative position in Oregon, which required him to move while I remained in California.  This separation remained for three years, with only being together for holidays and summer vacation.  Eventually, I decided to take a risk and accepted a lesser position in Oregon to be with him.  Now understand, I had a secured high paying job and I didn’t have the faith for an equal or better position because of the struggle of past experiences getting the position I worked for several years.  I was overqualified for my new role, but despite that I voiced concerns that if the economy worsened, there would be layoffs. And because I am a new hire my job would be the first to be cut.  Just one week after starting the job, my superintendent announced layoffs and repeatedly emphasizes this threat through emails and meetings.  Fear began to grow into my thoughts and words.  I finally did lose my job.  By focusing on these negative thoughts and speaking them to existence, fear ultimately prevailed, in that situation.  I believe with all my heart that there would have been a different outcome if my words and thoughts had been according to God’s promises. I should not make the move until I had the faith that I would prosper in Oregon.  I had a faith problem and spoke my unbelief. There are definite actions to take when fearful thoughts start plaguing you.

First, identify and remove sources of negativity. Because the devil is a liar, we need to take captive thoughts that are opposite of God’s promises. The term "captivity" means to tie up, place in prison, and discard, making fearful thoughts powerless and ineffective. Also, avoid people who bring you down by causing you to doubt God’s word. This is where you must guard what you allow yourself to hear because this may sow seeds of fear and doubt in your heart, which leads us to the next step.

Step 2: Seek Divine Guidance

Whatever is troubling you, pray and then find scriptures that guide you on how to overcome that situation. This is where the scripture says “meditate on this Word day and night.” allow yourself alone time with God without any distractions and expect to receive answers.

Joyce’s Lesson in Casting Down Visions of Death

When faced with breast cancer, I prayed and asked God for guidance and wisdom. I trusted that I would live a long life and followed the steps I believed God was leading me to take. Because I had been taught the power of God’s Promises growing up, I had peace and confidence that I would live and not die, which played a crucial role in my healing process.

While driving to my job, I envisioned myself in a casket with a green velvet outfit on. I had to push this picture out of my mind and replace it with the promise I would live a long life. I immediately turned on a podcast on healing to redirect my thoughts. On that same commute, a surprising question entered my mind; Jesus asked, would living and being healed from cancer bring Him more glory than my death? He also said that HE DESERVED MY HEALING. From that moment on, I knew the rest was up to me to focus on God’s promises no matter what I heard or felt, and a great peace came over me, which leads to the next step of speaking my healing into fruition.

Step 3: Declare God’s Word Over Your Situation

Once you’ve blocked out the negative, speak aloud God’s promises that resonated with you the most while you were in the Word. Continue doing this until you fully believe you will receive what you desire.

You must be warned that believing and speaking things into your life often comes with a fight. However, the scriptures encourage us by reminding us that we are “given the power and will to do God’s good will”. We just need to ask for His will, purpose, and plan to become ours as well.

This is a powerful message given by Jesus himself. Saying and believing cannot be separated. You must have both. So how do we get faith?

You must say your chosen scriptures aloud repeatedly until you believe and experience the life changing effects of “abundant life.” Next step, see yourself in your desired place.

Step 4: Visualize Your Desired Outcome

Dare to dream big, visualizing all the good things as though you already have them. Visualization is a powerful tool that helps you see and feel the reality you want to create. By envisioning your desired outcome, you align your thoughts and actions with the vision, which are aligned with God’s promises, and you are closer to living an “abundant life” lacking nothing.

After God gave Habakkuk a vision of future events, He instructed him to write the vision clearly and prominently for everyone to see. This idea is quite humorous when you imagine large billboards along the highway displaying the promises you are receiving. This not only encourages you but also inspires others. While we’re not suggesting you actually buy billboard space, this imagery underscores the importance of recording your desires and supporting them with scriptures

A great example of putting this God-given directive into action is a pastor who envisioned a massive student center but initially lacked the necessary funding. Every day, he would drive to the empty lot and walk through the imagined building, visualizing every detail until the plans were meticulously recorded on blueprints. These drawings of the student center were first captured on paper, and the plans were followed precisely until the beautiful building was complete. Remarkably, as each phase was finished, the finances arrived just in time to begin the next phase.

Note what is said to those who lack vision.

So, having a vision makes it more visible to make actionable steps to getting closer and manifesting your dreams. You become happy because you have HOPE because you are pursuing dreams according to the Word of God.

Step 5: Take Action

Faith without action is dead. This is where many people end their journey because they failed to move ahead on the process to success. You learned to block the negatives from taking root; you filled yourself with positive, Biblical promises, and sought divine guidance. Now you must do something, but what? You know God has good things for you, but how do you get the promises fulfilled in your life? This may take some research. What is it you need to do? Seek advice from those who have obtained the same vision you have. Read books and search the internet. Create a plan of action and follow the blueprint established, and remember to thank the Lord for answering your many prayers.

An example of taking action is when I was undergoing the healing process from cancer. I did my own research and found Dr. Lorraine Day, a surgeon who was also battling breast cancer. Each night, she and her husband feared she might not wake up the next morning. In her book, Cancer Doesn’t Scare Me Anymore, she shared pictures of the enormous tumors growing on her breast. Dr. Day encouraged patients to follow four steps: become a vegetarian, juice lots of carrots, drink 64 ounces of clear water daily, and avoid caffeine. I believed that if her plan worked for her, it could work for me too—and it did.
